I am only female engineer in my team, with six years of experience, current level is L5. TC is 230 for 2020 including amazon stocks. Location Bay Area. Education: I have master degree from USA Recently my friend joined as manager and I got to know from his team L4 engineers are getting paid around 210 and L5 around 330. This is not AWS team. Am I really low paid or is this well know gender bias in Amazon.
You mean gender bias! Nothing sexual about it.
Gender, sex, same thing
🤬🤬🤬🤬
I am just curious but why do you immediately assume its about gender? Each level at pretty much all tech companies have a band of pay for each level. No single engineer is exactly the same as another.
That’s the problem with corporate America, no one believes there is bias . I compared years of experience and education both. What about L4 getting paid about the same as L5 female engg
I'm not denying any kind of bias you might be referring to but your experience is anecdotal and your claim of knowing such a bold claim is absolutely true just makes you look foolish
Since you mentioned gender bias, If women are really paid less than men, then a company would only and certainly hire just women. You may have to move to a different company and increase TC or negotiate with your current company. If you’re drawing such shallow conclusions, then maybe you deserve that low TC 🤷♀️
What you are saying is practically not possible otw company might even do that
Yeah, I understand. Was just putting out a ridiculous counter argument to a ridiculous claim 😄
That's not true. You are paid fairly. I'm an L4 with tc 150. There could be one or two TT who are paid more in every level
Are you in Bay Area?
Yep
L4 are not getting paid 210.
Because you didn't negotiate
No, it's sexism
It’s potentially both. I definitely was low balled on offers as a woman but I definitely had to negotiate.
How long have you been with amazon?
Four years
Has your Tc always been 230 or less or have you fallen off the 4 year cliff?
No, you are underpaid because you either sit way to long at the same job or did not negotiate well when joined. Same rules for everyone. To fix it - LC and join another company with better TC. Take it from another female.
How tc increase can I expect after Channing job?
@Facebook, correct. I'm a female and I know I am weak on negotiating, my daughter is actually much better. Wage stagnation happens to everyone that stays at a company too long, the only way around it is to change jobs.
not gender bias.. it's bias against existing employees.. even here at msft new grads are getting 200+ in bayarea whereas few 62s are still at 175-180. Stop using your gender and victim mindset for Everything.
If your 6yoe is all at Amazon, then you're underpaid because of the cliff
Can you explain that?
> Can you explain that? Check out amazons stock price. If she was at Amazon 6 years then she only was granted like 20 stocks back when it was at $300, which is what they were giving warehouse workers. Makes me believe she is only a recent hire.
