I am concerned about my mental health. The work style at Amazon is damaging my brain. I am over 40 and cannot stand constant context-switching and multitasking, especially during on-calls. I became sluggish, found it hard to concentrate, and noticed memory loss. Maybe I had those symptoms before, but this company worsened them. I see how much younger teammates are way better than me at multitasking. It drains my mood and self-esteem. I have sessions with a psychologist once a week, and it really helps. Curious about FMLA. Will it put me into focus if I take FMLA? I am already having some tension with my manager because of lowered performance. Losing any interest in this company, it sucks. #MentalHealth
Leave Amazon. Thatās not an environment for mental health. If you take FMLA youāll face the same issue when you get back. You canāt be healthy if you are drinking poison, no amount of therapy can fix that. You have to get out of unhealthy environment for a start, the cause of the unhealthy to begin with
I took fmla and took the time to find another job. I then resigned when I returned, No way I was going to spend another second in that poisonous pit.
Congratulations for prioritizing your mental and emotional health. Yes FMLA to find another job and leave is great strategy!
You need to be able to take it. Itās like a muscle. Build it. Iāve also been working 12-14 hours daily. It can really be tough to take but you get used to it.
This is nothing compared to factory life, but still pathetic nonetheless. Amazonās business model is so weak, they need people working 12+ just to turn a profit.
How's your mental health and physical health?
Amazon is hard at the beginning, until you learn how to play politics and start coasting
This a 1000 times yes
Can you say more?
FMLA has nothing to do with Focus. No one can put you in Focus due to approved leave. All you need is proper documentation and approval from the DLS team.
They can't deny someone FMLA leave but they can cause problems when the person returns.
Most ppl on FMLA will have an exit plan ready by end of LoA.
If others outperform you, then you'll have a bad time here. There's no way around it. I know it's not what you (and others) want to hear, but the best way to improve your mental health at Amazon is to improve your performance
If you canāt take it, then work harder lmao
āPerformanceā is an elusive term here. What quantifies it at Amazon. Consistently delivering? High quality CRs? Good people person and mentor? Playing the politics? Who knows.
Youāre going to have to leave the company tho to fix the root cause, sounds like. But root cause might be present at any company just in different doses
Please get a medical test done specifically check thyroid levels and vitamin d. It could be the problem.
I just got my blood test results. All is good, including thyroid level.
Try taking b complex post lunch
IMO FMLA doesnt directly put you in Pip. Stack ranking will if your bar is less compared to peers. Health is important any day. Go and take when you need.
Same issue w/ me, without working at Amazon.. Iād be curious if thereās vitamins or some supplement to take that I can have better focus, concentrate more etc.

Do you really feel special in your Tesla?
People over 40 don't want to be in corporate. For me, I quit after I have kid at 30.
Did you retire or strike out on your own?
I went to a medium size company with great wlb and not-so-aggressive coworkers. Personally I think big techs are killing-each-other games for young people. Good to experience it as it adds richness to your life.
