Do people underestimate E6 role at meta?
Ex Amazonian here, worked there for 6 years#tech . I personally know of 6 people who received out of cycle pay raises, or, got contacted by their managers to talk about this. I wonder if there's any performance criteria behind it, or if it is mostly targetting those with the largest pay gap compared to the industry. Either way Amazon seems to be trying to fix their cultural issues with money. I'm not surprised as they seem to be unable to really introspect.
It's not called desperate.. it's called running the business .
When it is not normal, appears more being desperate
there was recently an article on amazon having a tool that predicts attrition risk to take early counter measures. maybe it is triggered by that?
In the age of AI/ML that’s the least they could do 😀.
It's called the RAT tool 😂
If they are only raising base pay that is just to get them in their proper band. If it were for retention they would be handing out stocks.
I’d rather work at a company desperate enough to retain me with pay raise vs one that doesn’t 🤷♂️
Off cycle comp adjustments are typical in any organization. My org attrition is very low. Regardless, off cycle comp adjustments are given to deserving engineers. SDM L6 here.
I received one of these when I BBC was at amazon in 2015. Changed my base comp from $140k to the max of $160k. Still not sure why. I was an L5 manager at the time. Turned out an L6 IC friend of mine in the org got one too (more understandable since he was L6 and not at cap). This came from the VP. I told my manager about it months later and he wasn’t even aware.
Hard Numbers please .
In terms of what? You may want to be more specific
Pay raises
