I have an offer from Amazon l5, wanted to understand the salary range for l5 sde. I have been offered 320k that includes rsu and bonus. Is this high end for l5? Base: 190k + 105k signing bonus + ~25k stocks TC:320k YOE: 8 years Location: Bay area #engineering #software #amazon
Give offer details dude. Base / Stock numbers / Sign On split
Updated
Not the first year TC, full offer. For e.g. pre stock split offers for SDE 2 used to be: 185k Base / 125k + 95k Sign on / 100 stock units over 4 years (5/15/40/40%)
Bay area and NYC high end used to be 400k for SD2/L5 amazon. Seattle 360k perhaps. 320k is pretty good in this market however you have 8YoE so you could have tried L6.
I didn't have any experience in system design, since I had 8 years of experience working on routers, which is very low level. So they didn't offer me l6.
It’s alright. Amazon pays all cash first two years. Jump ship as senior elsewhere in 2 years. Congrats!
Cash bonus only one year? My offer had it around 100k for year 1 and 2
Wow, Amazon still giving top of the market. Surprising!
This isn’t top of market
It is, for an L5. What did you expect, 500k? Check Google, Meta L4 salaries.
Wow that stock number is like mid or low tier companies.
That’s just for Y1 because it’s 95% cash for the first year. Otherwise it’s around $175K of stocks a year.
Amazon is giving out offers again?
Looks like.. heard hiring freeze until this year but looks like they stated again
I left Amazon about 8 months ago. Just got an email from a recruiter asking to have a call about coming back.
L5 is lowball for 8yoe - salary is high end for L5 atm given atmosphere .
Wait 25k in stock ! ? How is that 320k? It would need to be around 250k over 4 years…
I have L4s on my team with 10 yoe, this number looks a little low for L5 actually.
Job market is backkk!
Nope :-) OP just got lucky. Should have played the lottery that day too. ;-)
Not at all. I got more than that and I still think many have gotten better than me. 320k is definitely gud, but since the question is if it’s high band, the answer is no. 375k to 400k was high band last year, not sure how things are with current economy
Thanks
