I’ve got the below L5 offer at Amazon. It’s way higher than I had expected Amazon would pay. Is this the new standard for L5? Are there room to negotiate? Bay Area Base: 180k Sign-on: 100k + 70k RSU: ~220k vesting 5/15/40/40 YOE: 4
YoE? When you put offers like that on blind you are supposed to put YoE? YoE or GTFO.
Yeah I updated. 4 yoe
And TC. You really think people are reading your post with a freakin calculator in their hand?
Sign on is very high. Rest of offer is pretty average unless those RSUs are per year.
Definitely not per year. Vest 5/15/40/40 over 4 years
This offer is really good. Good base and sign on
How much is the annual bonus % at amazon ?
291k for a tech role seems regular?
Its not rare, but good offer. Also I heard somewhere not sure if it’s true, 180 or 185 is the base cap for Bay Area, so might now have much raise in following years
Amazon pays well, I don't get this meme that they don't. Unless you were a bad candidate and lowballed Just because like 4 companies pay better doesn't mean the pay is low. You should see what the average software engineer makes and later see what the average college grad makes
Thanks. Now I know. Guess I set my expectations low from reading too much blind posts and also levels.fyi. Would you reckon there’re rooms to neg?
There is always room to negotiations. I also got a very good offer and read somewhere that Amazon expects us to negotiate. So I came up with the negotiation strategy why I’d be more worth. At the end I got USD 10k more per year. You just need to negotiate the way that no one looses face or feels offended. At the end you’re going to negotiate with your manager and keep in mind that you’ll be working with this manager afterwards.
Seems too high. I would not take it
Pull a Sundar and say you want less
See if they can go a bit lower on the base, and cut first year sign on by 20k
This is pretty similar to the offer I got a few months ago. It's probably near the max for SDE2. Mine was for Seattle so my base was a bit lower, but stocks and signon were slightly higher.
Thanks. Mind sharing the numbers you got?
It was 155k base, 190k signon split over 2 years, 140 RSUs which was valued at like 240k at the time, same vesting schedule
Weird flex? But ok. Also how many YOE?
Updated. YOE 4
