Bezos recently purchased property in Miami. “Amazon, $AMZN, is looking for 50,000 square feet of office space in Florida as Jeff Bezos plans to move from Seattle, according to Bloomberg. Nationally, the office vacancy rate is over 20% as the commercial real estate crisis worsens. Meanwhile, in Florida office availability is now BELOW pre-pandemic levels. California and New York have lost a combined 750,000 residents since 2020. The real estate market in Florida has never been hotter. Is Florida becoming the new tech hub?” Source: https://x.com/kobeissiletter/status/1729276687395803232#
No Florida city pays enough to go back to the office, and with how absolutely car-dependent most of the state is, there’s no way this doesn’t absolutely backfire, considering that you can easily find plenty of remote-friendly companies that won’t force you to drive to and from work every day. Amazon is a terrible company that relies on the office as a means to control their workers (and PIP them later), so this is to be expected. TC: 105K
Well said. I agree
Im actually curious to see how migration works when folks who moved to Florida have kids and see how shitty the entire school system is there. I guess private schools will make a killing.
Isn’t he from Florida? And 50k sq ft of office space isn’t that much
Isn't Bezos busy with his 4/10 girlfriend?
What I don’t get is - you either care about looks or you don’t. If he didn’t care, he could have as well stayed with his wife (who is better looking than the girlfriend). If he really cares about looks, he could have gotten someone way prettier and younger. Why her?
How do you define tech hub?
A sausage fest, so the opposite of Miami
