Hi all, 6 months ago I received an amazon relocation offer and now, 20 days ago before traveling from my country to Canada, I got an email from an amazon recruiter with this ref: “Personal and confidential” They say they want to talk with me regarding my pending start date, but the title of the email is really worrying. What can I expect? I changed my whole life for this, I quit my job, my wife quit her job, I sold my car, rented my house.. I can’t think of any bad new, but the title is not promising at all… #amazon
Offer rescind.
Why?
It’s being rescinded. Start looking around for new job. Also, I’ve never understood people that will put off start dates for 6-8 months. So much could happen in the meantime (like this). You likely wouldn’t be on the RIF list at this point but it costs them nothing to rescind your offer.
It was for the visa. It took 7 months
@Uber TN visa can pretty easily take 6-8 months, and I’m sure a family made it more complicated. As an individual it took something like 4 months for me to have all the correct paperwork and timing to apply.
Emits start dates are being pushed backwards
Your offer probably won't be rescinded but likely the start date is delayed. Many Amazon new grads start date got delayed by 6 months. Likely they are doing the same to other new hires.
That policy is exclusive to new graduates as far as I’m aware since student programs is protecting them. Could be possible that it does extend to industry hires, but from what we’ve seen so far, those all get rescinded instead.
I had the exact same scenario. Cold call followed by this email when I missed the call.
I’d just open the email and read the contents.
Didn’t know I could do this. Thanks for your contribution!
On a serious note I wish you all the best. Hopefully they’re just adjusting the start date and nothing else.
You know exactly what it is. Sorry op
Likely start date delay anywhere from 3-6 months
When were you supposed to start and do let us know what the recruiter said! I'm in the same position as you
I was supossed to start on february 6. Im travelling to Canada on january 10th. Im relocating from another country. I have the tickets, rhe house for the first 45 days… i cant beleive it
Really sorry to hear this. I was also going to move to the US from India, and this rescind happened. They offered a month's pay as compensation. You should probably negotiate for more if its possible.
Did they rescind, OP?
No one can tell you what to expect… just schedule the call ASAP
