Its officially announced base pay max to go to 350k. Also in-year stock awards will be considered during promotion, to bring newly promoted candidate to pay band. They also announced pay will increase globally to "most" employees. I think its good start, although in year stock award should not be limited to promotion in my opinion and still no refreshers. #engineering #software #techcareer TC: 530K (not at amazon)

What happens when most of your team is Indian?
Still lot of companies out there paying equal or more with one tenth the stress. It's known that only folks who can't get offers elsewhere take amazon, and this is not going to change with this.
Also an antithesis to "money is everything" is : see Google's ability to hire top talent while consistently lowballing and downleveling folks. So yeah money ain't everything.
Who else pays up to 350k base?
Pay isn't Amazon's problem
Isn’t the only Amazon’s problem
Isn’t Amazon’s only problem
They'd have to change the culture as well but most people will be more comfortable with a higher base pay now.
Get more tc and outta door by PIP season.
Will Microsoft follow Amazon?
No.
🥲
Where was this announced?
Amazon news, internal site.
I guess they need to work on improving culture, no-PIP, promote WLB.. Now, these things attract more talent than base pay
u mean Amazon should shut down?
Lets see what “exact” increase different job roles and levels actually get. At this point it is just a generic company news (not rumor anymore), but yet to see it in action with “real” numbers. But this is not enough to attract and retain top talents until they fix the real issue: “Forceful URA Quota” and all the ill practices that come with it.
Agreed
Exactly!
Now everyone will have to work 20 hours a day instead of 12
🤣🤣
😂😂😂
Amazon’s culture of supreme arseholishness is well deserved. Talk to 5 people in your network who work or have worked for Amazon and find out for yourself. Have you seen the vesting schedule? Will you have a target on your back after Year-2? Just another sign of the ahole culture. Personally, I’d need a significant premium (40+%) to pick Amazon over an alternative.
Totally agree
Wayfair is the same as Amazon except it’s smaller, has worse leadership and has a horrible tech stack. Source: I worked there
The issue with Amazon is not TC. For me it is having quota for PIP.
From my experience, the only engrs getting PIPed were actually low contributors. If you’re scared of being PIPed then you’re right to stay away. Don’t waste 9 months of our time
It would be great if Amazon went on the record about what their pip policy is - if you have a two pizza team where everyone is Alan Turing, does the team still get decimated Roman style?
