If I quit Amazon after a year and three months is completed, do I have to pay Amazon anything in Luxembourg? #amazon #luxembourg
Check your offer letter. In the US, if you leave before 2 years, you’ve to pay back part of your bonus.
Thanks! The offer letter has nothing in terms of paying back. In Lux, the bonus is paid in monthly instalments over two years and not all at once while joining. So, I've only been paid the bonus for the months I have worked. The offer letter says "In case of termination for any reason before two years, you will not be paid the remaining instalments of the bonus". Is the bonus paid all at once at start in the US?
@Amazon what your describing sounds like a sign on bonus, not a relocation bonus.
You need to look at the relocation documents shared with you when you first got the offer and not the offer letter - as far as I know it would say something like prorated for 24 months (or 12 months)
I just checked and couldn't find any such clause in the relocation documents (lump sum and the other package both). But I do remember reading 12 months somewhere when I first got the documents. Just not able to find it. Do you know which document has it?
I misspoke - I'm sorry here's the clause from my offer letter " Relocation benefits paid to you or expenses incurred on your behalf will be treated as an advance and will be earned on a prorated daily basis as you complete two full years of employment with the Company. If your employment with the Company is terminated for any reason prior to the second anniversary of your Start Date, you will be required to repay any unearned portion of the amounts paid to you or incurred on your behalf to the Company. "
What was the outcome? (am in similar situation)
Not after 12 months…
Thanks! Such a relief.
