In mid November thousands of employees were offered a voluntary resignation program promising: 3 MONTHS of base pay 1 additional week of base pay per nearest 6 months of service 297/week cobra subsidy x 12 weeks plus 1 additional week per nearest 6 months of service. Employees who accepted the offer were required to first resign and voluntarily leave their jobs on either 12/16 or 12/23. They would then receive a severance agreement 1 week later to sign and provide the above promised money. After several employees resigned from the first wave, Amazon sent severance totals that were thousands less than promised. After employees contacted the hr specialist team; the root cause appears to be Amazon calculating 12 weeks of pay in lieu of 3 months of pay. Amazon payroll for decades uses the amount of 173.33 hours to calculate monthly pay for employees. They are well aware of the difference between 3 months (519.99 hours) and 12 weeks(480 hours). However instead of correcting the issue, their ERC team is referring to a small clause written in the VRP offer allowing Amazon to simply change the total offer in severance pay without any recourse for the employee who has already been terminated(many without access to unemployment because this was “voluntary”). Forcing them to either accept the lesser total Amazon offers or be penniless. Does anyone have knowledge or resources on how to fight this bait and switch to hold Amazon accountable to their promise to hundreds of now unemployed former employees? Their skimming off of employees may only be a few thousand per person but it likely aggregates to a million or more of unpaid wages. #layoffs #amazon
It's not my job to ask for clarification if Amazon states three months. If my salary is 120,000 then I'll assume that three months is $10,000 multiplied by three months. That's $30K. I won't go around assuming that three months is $120,000 divided by 52 weeks which is $2307.69 times 12 weeks. That's $27,692. Amazon needs to make things clear when they offered the VRP to us. Maybe they could have given an example calculation in the VRP offer before we chose to accept.
You're pushing the blame onto the workers when they're the ones who were tricked. Amazon is the responsible party here.
Amazon said “trust us” and folks believed it?
Amazon is trash. No longer use any of their services because of antics like this.
Oracle has been laying people off for decades.

Amazon is a fucking horrible cesspool, they have showed it in the past, no surprises there, they're the worst company to work in FAANG and it should only be used as a stepping stone in your career.
