I saw the following new offers from Amazon. It seems Amazon gave out $330k signing bonus and / or bonus? The other rows show $290k, $281, $127k signing bonus and / or bonus. It seems the person asked for a low RSU and then wanted more in the signing bonus / bonus category? What is that about? #tc #signingbonus #bonus
seems like the offers they had like in 2021-2022 lol
they still out give that number. If you got a lowball offer, it probably means you didn't do well
oh I didn’t interview but good to know I guess. I worked there until early 2022 and left cause I was making half that kind of money and they were hiring people and paying them double what I was making 🤷♂️
Amazon issues six-figure "signing bonus" that pays out monthly over your first two years (where you only vest like 5-10% of your stock). Then you vest the rest of your stock in years 3&4 or they fire you before this.
Amazon stock vesting period is 5/15/40/40. They make up for low stock in first two years with high sign-on bonuses. Looks like those people were hired as senior engineers (L6). Those numbers def seem like pandemic numbers, I’d be surprised if L6 is pulling that much these days, TC in the 300s seems more realistic tbh. But i haven’t seen any recent L6 offers so idk
They are likely down level L7s. Amazon gave top of band to down-levels even pre-pandemic.
Amazon gives only 5% to the employee for that first year of work? That's very little if other companies are giving 25%... so it is like employees fight to be there year 3 and 4, meaning at least work there for 4 years
Also possible these were downleveled principles so they came in at the top of the senior band
This is likely it. Amazon has done this to me twice (first time pre-pandemic).
It is likely to compensate for them leaving a lot of next-year vesting RSU or options from their old company.
No Amazon doesn’t do that. This is top of the L6 band pay. L6 band at Amazon is very wide. It’s like Senior and Staff combined in one level.
A relative of mine is a high level recruiter for amazon. With the right leverage, level and skillset, a big signing bonus (300k+) is on the table. Usually first year RSU split is turned down a notch to compensate, but then the split is higher after.
My sign on bonus was 360k. I don't think this is unusual for senior levels since they have a cap on base pay and don't give stocks in the first two years (just 20% total). Also, if you quit/get fired before the 2 year mark you don't get the entire bonus.
A friend joined Amazon as sde3 in 2022 first year tc 0.5 m 😅true story
What site has these numbers?
https://www.levels.fyi/companies/amazon/salaries/software-engineer/levels/sde-iii?minYac=0&maxYac=0 that is, look at SDE III only and "new offers" only
Probably, seems like a nice signing bonus
