Kindle in Irvine? Do you mean the devices teams?
have you not talked to the HM of these teams ?
Spoken to one so far, but wanted to hear less biased opinions
well, it's really hard to say what you can learn and find interesting cus everyone's different but the teams I matched with in Irvine, I ended up not taking after talking to the HM. make sure you ask the hard questions..
Amazon music is pretty chill Plus it's in Irvine so it should be super chill
These are massive teams... and each team has sub teams. And each of those sub teams is gonna be different. The Amazon experience - for example my org has some teams working around the clock and some doing practically nothing.
Fair but I don't know nor can I list every sub team. Let's just say I was considering Alexa, Physical Stores, and Fresh - which of these would be better on average in terms of interesting work, promotions, etc?
Yeah you’re gonna hate this answer - but they all are gonna have good and bad teams work wise. Alexa might have some super cool scaling teams for example and then mundane teams that are working on simple skills. Physical stores/fresh has some awesome hardware and computer vision teams and even cloud architecture. But also some horribly boring teams that deal with small problems. Promotion is heavily driven by manager. Alexa had a reputation for being easier promotion wise cause they were empire building - “Alexa L6” is something I’ve heard a few times that’s kind of a jab at some of the seniors in Alexa not being at the bar with other orgs. Sorry for not being able to give you a concrete answer :/ tl;dr most of these answers are based on your direct manager and their ability to navigate Amazon
OP what did you end up joining and which location? I'm in a similar situation & could use some insight
Does this really matter if you get pipped soon thereafter?
