Joined a new team. The market for the product is there but Amazon's product here is very low quality. Senior management is from unknown and unheard companies with history of bad and uneducated decisions. I checked the team's chat history by messing around on Slack. In the last 2 years, 8 engineers in the message history are now deactivated (fired or resigned). Most of them seem to have left under unpleasant circumstances. (Team size is around 10 engineers) 99% of the people seem to be bound to the job (for visa, financial, or professional reasons) and cannot leave. Working on weekend and oncall for everyone (this is regular Amazon practice so not really a red flag). L4 who have been there for 3 years and have not been promoted. They kiss management's ass all the time and it seems sadistic, almost. This is a disaster whatever way you look at it, but I need to know how bad this is.
You joined a shithole team. My team is far better state than what you describe and so is my org. Consider internal transfer.
How is collaboration in the team
The entire company IS a red flag. But I believe there are good teams in Amazon.
