How big of a S**t show is Seattle becoming? https://www.newsweek.com/amazon-relocates-workers-due-out-control-violence-downtown-seattle-1687497?amp=1 Tc:720
I am impressed that Amazon started to care about employees
New CEO does that sometimes
I agree AWS was worse than retail. That may have been the nature of cloud and AWS though. As CEO he increased the base salary cap, had a stock split, and small actions like this. His actions as CEO have been surprisingly positive

That specific area was one of the two areas in Seattle that I always found to be very sketchy. I used to catch bus from the stop there for two years. Now, in past few months, it has gone downhill! This is an issue with only one building. I actually like Amazon has chosen to have the headquarter at the middle of a city, even if that sometimes come with city issues. I hated office parks. However I see employees in US in general probably prefers office parks. That likely explains the expansion in Bellevue.
Yup. 3rd and Pine isn’t the main campus which is spread across East lake. 3rd and Pine is the middle of downtown area where druggies and homeless people always hung out, even 10 years ago.
Keep voting democrat
How about just quit voting for people who tolerate this crap regardless of party?
why vote when meta here can help swing the election in whichever way we pay them
Bro what the fuck….how can a city get that bad? (We all know the answer to that)
Democrats continue ruining cities with unchecked crime.
Remember CHAZ 😂😂😂 How come when left wing nuts do this shit it’s completely acceptable? Imagine if a right wing group of people tried the same thing — MASS CASUALTIES!
People have incorrectly associated homelessness with poverty and not with drugs and crime. You have to wake up and realize that the guy on the street attacking people didn’t just lose his job last week. It’s a LONG road from job loss to ending up on the street with MANY opportunities to recover. Unemployment Insurance, Temp Agencies where you can walk in and get a job doing something, Late Rent / Mortgage payment plans, Credit Cards, Payday Loans, Eviction Protections, Friends / Family / Charity / Churches, Shelters, Food Pantries. In the US if you at least put in some effort and are willing to work you can get back on your feet. The people committing these crimes have lost hope or given up, don’t give a fuck, and have no consequences from the police (catch and release). You can’t just let them live a life where committing crimes doesn’t result in consequences.
While what you’ve said is true, it’s not the whole story. Part of the problem is information. The social welfare net in the US is a mess. There are dozens of agencies, just at the federal level, and multiple more at the state. This doesn’t even count the private and religious organizations. Often there are people on the streets simply because they don’t know where to turn. There are entire organizations whose sole purpose is to help needy people navigate the labyrinth, but to get that help you need to even know that organization exists! It’s not just joblessness that puts you out on the street. For every person who got to that point slowly, there are others who entered abruptly as a way of escaping domestic violence.
Can’t disagree… but there are plenty PLENTY people in tough times that don’t commit violent crimes. These were criminals even before they became homeless.

What do you think is wrong with a kid who got rejected by 9 colleges?
Amazon has to be in Seattle or any other major tech centre with the churn that they have. Amazon needs Seattle and would open the same office again in a few days.
