Hey all having a bit of trouble deciding between Amazon (Vancouver, remote undecided) and Cisco Meraki (remote) for my final internship. I have no big names on my resume (only local startups). Cisco's TC is about 30% higher, but I don't really care about that at this point, as I want to maximize the chances of getting interviews for new grad. My concern is regarding the horror stories at Amazon and the talk about Amazon lowering the hiring bar will make their name carry less weight than it historically has. #amazon #cisco #meraki
Meraki all the way! Benefits of name recognition due to being a part of Cisco but perks of a startup. Know a few ppl working here and they love it
What's TC breakdown on both?
Are you talking about the internship TC or the job TC. The internship TC doesn’t matter. Go for Amazon. The horror stories don’t concern you for now, you are only going in as an intern. Go with an open mind and se le how your experience is. You can choose to not join full time. Also Amazon is not bad for a first Job. The TC is competitive and the brand is kore recognisable. Also, IMHO, having Amazon on your resume might get you koee interviews for new grad roles than having Cisco Meraki. But it’s a personal choice. I’m sure you’ll do good either way.

Yeah talking about internship TC which I don’t care much about. Thank you for the insight!
Considering joining Meraki now, but I would say Amazon as well, unless the team provides you a LOT better opportunities than the equivalent team. Amazon will probably appear better on your resume than Meraki - Meraki won't be bad by any means. But if you're just looking for name recognition for opening doors (which I would be too as a intern), I'd go Amazon.

How to be content in life?
I’ve worked at both places. Meraki has way better culture, and better opportunities. Depends on the team of course, I’m just generalizing.
For the record, I joined Meraki with several years of experience. So my experience may be slightly different, but I still got tons of recruiter messages when working at Meraki, just as I do Amazon. At a certain point, I don’t think the name matters, just the kind of work and impact you are doing
Honestly for this internship my biggest priority is getting more new grad interviews, If the culture is better/worse it’s fine it’s only a few months
