Career question - I'm a Canadian student graduating this December at which point I will have interned at Amazon, Microsoft and Shopify. During my time at university, I was coach for my university's World Finalist ICPC team. I'm on track to have offers from all three but am looking to commit to Shopify to be able to stay in Canada due to life circumstances. I'm wondering whether this will hurt my career in the long run. Will my internships help me get offers after a couple of years of working if I decide I want a change? Will my ICPC experience help?
Shopify!!
Ms will help your career the most in the long run.
How?
For canada Shopify seems best. MS does not have that many lucrative opportunities in Canada office. Amazon does have a huge office and lots of teams but for initial career growth a company like Shopify would be way better where you might have more visibility.
Shopify! Probably so much foundational engineering work!
I have worked at Amazon and Microsoft and I can say I am more excited about Shopify. 😬
Shopify pays less in Canada in terms of base. Stocks might balance that out but it's already ATH.. For pay,I would go with Amazon. For other reasons Shopify could be better fit.
Shopify has been breaking ATH for the last 5 years. Stock seems unstoppable despite the high revenue to market cap ratio
Don't mind pay cut, looking for experience and good culture at the moment. Also cost of living in Vancouver >> Montreal even with tax difference - what are your thoughts?
Bare in mind Shopify is fully remote now. So without a choice to go back to the office with all your team mates. I would consider that if you prefer to interact with people face to face
Where did you enjoy your internship the most?
Each had its benefit - yet to tell at Shopify. I enjoyed problems at Amazon, product at Microsoft.
Shopify. Make it a poll.
Thanks - good idea
