Managers lying through their teeth about layoffs. For the past year entire team has been working tirelessly without weekends to release a product. Lost my mental health. My review was good but not sure how things will turn up over next week. Lesson: Never join Amazon. Never trust Amazon manager. If a manager says they are working for a S team goal, expect zero work life balance. There are many companies out there with better WLB and better attitude towards employees. People really don’t understand how bad Amazon is. They are going to say it’s another tech company, it’s not. It’s shit. My team couldn’t hire enough people for past 2 years yet they claim they have lot of approved head count. To do what ? To deceive people . Hope these managers find a place in hell. Edit 1: One of the comments mentioned that Amazon is good fit for no lifers. That is what my experience showed me. People who are willing to work more that 50-60 hrs a week. People with no partners and no one in life. I have been unable to keep constant contact with my parents, even after work what I can think of is work. I’m trying to find a way out. Edit 2: Let’s start tagging #neveramazon I hope people take lesson from these posts TC: 300 #aws #amazon #tech #faang #shit #neveragain
Glad I never entertained Amazon recruiters.
Your title seems to suggest AWS as product is shit
I bet somebody is going to say.. "there are great teams at Amazon. Switch team" I know. I tried. However, if a team has an interesting project and people are happy (tech survey). It's really hard to get in there.
This. Also some teams insist on a full interview loop even for an internal transfer, in addition to giving them links to code you've submitted, CR's you've done, and any design docs. It's as bad as just interviewing externally.
I did switch teams and initially it was great but the thing with Amazon is it takes very little time for a team to go from good to bad. Things became very bad within a month because some bs VP wanted us to take ownership and deliver results and bunch of other bs LPs
Amazon is good for people with no life outside work, unmarried, no gf/bf, no pets, no outside interests/hobbies, like to lick ass, highly driven by money, ready to sell their soul If you have/are are none of these, then stay away
That is what my experience showed me
Driven by money. They do not pay well my son
Ex-Amazon and I agree. The worst company I have worked for. Never again! I wish you all the best OP and feel sorry that you are stuck at the shit hole. May the best happen to you

Is Oracle any better? Btw, there is no hell.
No worry about pip. I used to have 30 hr weeks with no pressure at Oracle
Also my manger is asking us not to create tasks that take few hours complete. In a week I’m working on at least three of these
