I've gotten used to the Google assistant but have been contemplating moving to Alexa and the Amazon ecosystem now. Here's a few of my thoughts: Amazon/Alexa/Ring: Prime Videos and unlimited photo storage come as a big advantage with the Prime subscription. Ring has a good collection of devices and the prescence of interactive monitoring option along with flexible plans is a big plus. Firetv stick is just as good option as the chromecast. Google/Nest: Google assistant seems a little better in understanding my queries than Alexa. Nest devices are good but the Google home app experience feels buggy. Since Google has taken away the option of interactive monitoring it feels a big disadvantage in using their security devices. Have to pay for photo storage since I've already exhausted the 15 gb. Chromecast has a good ambient mode option but AFAIK, even Firetv stick has it. Please let me know if I'm missing anything here and help decide. #Amazon #Ring #Nest #Google
Make it a poll. I like Google ecosystem better, it feels more mature than Amazon offerings. I never had Amazon Ring (use Nest), but judging by their speakers, Google Assistant is much better.
I wanted to make it a poll, but I want people such as you who've actually used either of the systems to provide an informed opinion rather than someone just selecting an option based on hearsay
Nothing to watch on Prime. Don't bother
Oh, there's a decent amount of good content here. I'm just not a binge watcher so tend to exhaust content slowly
I agree with the nest cams being better, but the issue is you can't do much with that. Nest aware is essentially a video uploading service. You cannot have someone monitoring your cams when you're away on vacation or in a different time zone. I'm thinking of going the same direction as you-> Ring for home security, and Nest for thermostat.
My Nest Doorbell has ability to recognize when package was dropped off and picked up. It also can recognize when someone is at the front door. Not sure if Ring has the same features.
Yes, Ring offers the same features
Both suck (flaky and unreliable)
Suck
Sure, but which one's relatively better?
