I accepted AMD offer early last week but now have a better (money wise) offer from the APD team at Broadcom. Broadcom didn’t come back for a long time so I had accepted AMD because I am on h1 and was laid off. Should I say no to Amd now to accept Broadcom? What do I say to the recruiter? Difference is annual comp is about 50,000$ in RSUs. AMD role is fpga timing, Broadcom is a Physical design role. Is the WLB in Broadcom too bad? YOE - 8 Amd - Mts - TC 225k$ + 15% targeted bonus (185k base) Broadcom - staff - tc 285k$ + 25% bonus target (180 base)
8 years for MTS is quite low, so Broadcom looks like a better choice. Congrats!
Broadcom has its slow and busy times like all companies. I wouldn’t let that scare you. The biggest challenge here is resourcing - so it’s usually just you and a few others doing the work. Also think about what you want out of your career. The RSUs here start to become golden handcuffs if you stay a few years. Great if you are happy where you are and don’t care to “move up”
^ this is the most accurate representation of things at Broadcom. Also, what makes you think AMD has good WLB ? If you are comparing wlb to what you had at Intel. Every company out there has worse wlb
Based on what I have heard about AMD, it seems to be more reasonable expectations than Broadcom?
Please make a poll to collect more data points.
Broadcom refreshers are definitely better than amd , as I have heard. Amd refreshers aren't great.
Which bu? Avoid msap
Why?
APD
OP, can u share the offer breakdown - base + rsu for both AMD and Broadcom. Which BU at Broadcom?
Done, APD at Broadcom
APD(ASIC product division) - is a hot with all the AI talk- lots of upside in this BU. Good luck!
OP how many RSU units did broadcom offer for IC4?
What’s the RSU component on both offers ? Push for higher RSU close to 300-320k for 8yrs. Base looks good. Good luck !
he did mention his TC is 285k which is the range you provided 😑
Level and tc ? Congrats!
