American Express recruiter ghosting post “passed” interview?

Friend cleared the interview (according to what the recruiter said) but now we seem to be “trying to find them a team,” something else the recruiter said which afterwards my friend was passed on to another recruiter. This new recruiter had one call with my friend ~3 weeks ago ago saying the same info about finding a team but has been ghost silent about any questions for follows for the past 3 weeks when my friend has reached out to them. Anyone at @American Express know the process of this step? Or does anyone possibly work in recruiting that could help out? Orrr is anyone’s team looking for new grads to join them? Partially stressed for him given the current market so really hoping he gets this as he was laid off from a job only after 1 month of starting. Any input would be appreciated! Thank you! 🙏 #recruiting

They're going through the new grad pipeline right? If they haven't gotten rid of it, it should still be called EDP. I think it really is just looking for a team to take on a new hire. I know my old team just hired a new team member so there are definitely still teams hiring, but I'm not sure what the situation is based on location.

New grad pipeline, not sure of the program name. I’m just very concerned as he’s tried to reach the recruiter he was passed off to ~4 times with 0 replies. Just concerning as all… want to make sure somethings in the works given the layoffs/hiring freezes

For reference, from when I passed the interview to when I was reached out with actual info was about 3 months (November before Thanksgiving to late Jan/early Feb). I then started in March. It's a known issue with Amex's recruiting pipeline, seems like nothing has changed.

Do you know what role he passed the loop for? (Product or Tech?)

How would I be able to find out? It will either be data engineering or SWE depending on whether they find a team (again just what I’ve been told). Happy to take this to DM if needed

I recently interviewed with Amex and the process took a good while. At some point I thought I didn’t get the job because I haven’t heard back in 2-3 weeks and they wouldn’t reply whenever I tried to reach out. It didn’t make sense though because I was certain that I was killing the interviews. But right after that, they gave me a quick final interview and eventually I got the job. I know that unlike other companies in the industry, Amex are actively trying to hire new people, especially in tech. So If I were you, If you’re certain that the interviews were going well, I’d believe that they’re trying to find him a team. I’d wait a bit longer as I feel like Amex take time when hiring new people.

Have been waiting 3+ weeks since 2nd interview at Amex, anyone else?

If you want it just be patient, the recruiters are idiots and slow

Be patient because most people are on PTOs due to it’s the holiday season. The recruiter may be actively looking for a team for your friend but the hiring managers are on PTO, or the recruiters are on PTOs themselves 😅
