I was chatting with a friend who said public schools today don't have many volunteers from tech bringing awareness to high schoolers about future careers in tech. Is that true?
None. Thought I wouldn’t get into tech in my life. Then realized I’m smarter than most people and got in.
My high school didn't even have AP Comp Sci the only tech class we had some bullshit Blitz3D BASIC "game programming" class. No tech classes AT ALL before HS either
I had a friend in high school who REALLY wanted to study CS at CMU. I decided to check it out and applied I got in... he didn't. We didn't speak after that
None. Our computers were for typing class only, which I think was 1 semester? Every “smart” kid wanted to get into physics or chemistry or law.
Only law has potential of making good money of those choices
Physics does too where I grew. Work at a nuclear plant.
Your peers don’t think it’s cool, everything else doesn’t matter 🤷♂️
I lived and breathed tech. Became citizen later.
