Amount of crying from Software Engineers is astounding
Every time I go to subreddits, tiktok, blind posts etc, the amount of crying from CS grads to mostly jr engineers is astounding to me. 1. Degree: Tell me one industry where they will pay you 150k out of undergrad with no master’s no PhD no MD. You will have your first child in your 30s by the time you start paying off your debt as a doctor and that’s not even guaranteed. 2. LeetCode: Do they let you into medical school without MCAT now? Is it an open book? What about LSAT? Can you google or ask someone? Why isn’t MCAT exactly like doctor’s job? That’s so stupid, no? The amount of crying I hear from new grad / jr is incredible. Do they let you be primary care doctors after solving medium hard 100 problems now? 3. Perks: What other high six figure jobs let you roll out of bed to attend your first stand up and lets you take a two hr nap? Do they get fed? Do they get to sit all day? Shuttles that take you home? Do hospitals now come with free gyms? Do lawyers just work 35-40 hrs a week? Get to work from home 2/5 days? I originally studied electrical computer engineering. I was a EE @ Northrop Grumman working on digital signal processing software. Worked inside of a giant windowless faraday cage 8 to 6. TL at the time had a PhD in EE. He said he’s been in the industry for about ten years and he’s barely scratching the surface. (TL) Was making 150k. We paid for our 50 cents shitty coffee. Fast forward to my Amazon days. Sitting next to another dude who was a EE and we laugh how easy software engineering is and how much we are getting paid. It’s all fine to ask for better comp or benefits or whatever. But the amount of crying is ridiculous. Cry more and switch to other professions. Edit: clarification Edit2: apparently I need to pay blind tax for a post that has nothing to do with comp. 330k. Spot on, everyone’s too soft. I spent some time doing excavation work to install infrastructure. 120 degree heat, swamps with 100% humidity, snow sleet you name it. Can’t find real men today outside of construction and blue collar work.

Your sarcasm is outdated. There are more people in tech now that have blue collar, hard and dangerous work, or military backgrounds. I know real men intimidate you, but you shouldn’t feel worried as long as you stay in your place
In finance and pretty much every other good-paying industry, 50 hours is heaven, 90 hours is bad, 25 hours is plain unheard of.

The salaries in tech are insane. Many get paid more than doctors and they aren’t exactly saving lives or contributing to society

Post is hilarious. This is why I work on Software now. When I worked in Tech Support for a CableCO. I communicated with a lot of people. Two types stood out - The BABY MAN. This dude would call to share his screen or webcam, then show you himself dressed up as a baby, sucking stuff 😂. - Anyone who lost internet (Outage or Nonpayment). The shit people say or do to get you to “turn it back” is down right embarrassing. Moral of the Story. - Get a Ubiquiti Router with Dual Wan. Get a primary and a secondary if the shit is important to you. - I don’t like any of you motherfuckers.
