Got an offer from both ADI and TI and want to see if I can get help in making my decision easier. Degree: Masters Work Exp: 2.5 years ADI: Designation: L3 position Location: North Carolina Base pay: 98k Sign on: 5k Annual bonus: 10% TI: Designation: L2 position Location: California Base Pay: 120k Sign on: 5k RSU and stock option: 10k Factors: 1. Job security 2. Quality of job 3. Cost of living/ savings 4. ADI gives me scope to get hands on on something that I recently found interest in. #texasinstruments #analogdevices
Congratulations on the offers. I would not recommend ADI because of 3 reasons 1. Location: Off chance that you don't like your job, you will be stuck in NC. 2. Bonus: That 10% bonus that the HR mentioned to you is a joke. This quarter the bonus is just 2%. These are not realistic numbers. 3. Career Development: ADI takes NO additional measures to develop the hired talent. They'll just lay-off people now if they don't need you. Also my girlfriend also has similar YOE and TI have her higher number. Force TI to go higher at least on TC (135k) and sign on (15k) I have a master's too and I joined ADI 2.5 years ago. It aches me to see my friends earnings twice my TC plus crazy RSUs. Take advantage of being in valley. Good luck!
And what do you think the quarter bonus in TI was?
TI has no quarterly bonus. Only yearly 20% or so
Stay in silicon valley if you can.
ADI has the tradition of paying lower than market average. It may offer good WLB but not a good choice for young people who cares about TC and career advancement.
Take the job at TI. You'd get the 20% profit sharing and a year-end bonus if you perform well. What is the role and which group is it with? There are some PLs you should avoid as they are not performing that well.
What profiles in both?
What is the job profile? Analog/digital Design/verification/validation/testing??
Years ago I had a final interview at ADI. Had an in person interview with their HR who told me they narrowed down the candidates to myself and two others. The HR asked for my GPA which wasn’t impressive and told me that ADI hires candidates with 3.5 and above GPA. That was the one negative experience about ADI that I have till this day.
Oh wow. I am really sorry about that experience. But most of us here in ADI don't believe in grades being the make or break criteria.
That’s good that ADI has changed their practices.
Used to work for ADI. ADI has a pretty high pay per hour. WLB is so good.
Vote for TI. In fact, I vote for Silicon Valley
Isn't 98k in NC better than 120k in California? Which group is this? I can shed some light maybe about ADI.. But in general, having a lot of friends in TI and myself working in ADI, ADI is much better. You get a lot of time for yourself.. No handholding. The learning opportunities beat hands down any other place..
