Hey everyone! I graduated recently with no particular specification/area of interest and have been working as an Android Engineer for the past 6 months. I really discovered a huge attraction for Mobile engineering and truly enjoy my work. Something that has been coming back a few times is how much of an Apple/iPhone/iOS person I am. I like Google too but not as much, Android and Android devices too but I still personally prefer Apple and their devices. An ultimate dream of mine would be to work at Apple on iPhone stuff but it seems like if I followed a straight trajectory I would never get a shot at Apple? I wanted to ask people who once were in this situation about transitioning from Android to iOS, or coupling both if that is realistic? Do people with Android experience have value in Apple's eyes even if they lack a bit of Swift experience? Ideally, I'd like to keep learning Swift/iOS basics while working as an Android SWE. So that I can call myself knowledgeable in both and hopefully be hireable by Apple! Let me know what you guys think!! TC: 172k #android #ios #swift #kotlin #google #apple #career #hiring
Any decent company will understand that a good SWE can translate their skills from one platform to another similar one. I think you're good regardless of what phone os you're writing apps for.
That helps thanks! I think it makes sense I can show versatility in learning these
You have a long way to go
Very helpful sir! Thanks
I’d want to be really strong on swift basics before applying. Nothing wrong with knowing both. It helps you ask for more money.
I see! Yeah it seems they'd grill me on Swift knowledge since my resume would only show Android experience! Thanks for your input!
They have one app on playstore. Switch to Apple. Goodluck!
They do have some Android positions! Maybe that’s a good entry point thanks!!
