Tech companies to avoid as a white guy?
Does it mean corporate employees can wfh permanently with director’s approval now? Edit: https://www.aboutamazon.com/news/workplace/amazon-offering-teams-more-flexibility-as-we-return-to-office
What's the email say? Post it in the description
Post the email or post this in the Amazon lounge 🙄 Other people have no context
Yep! Changed guidance from VP's approval to director's approval. Except for that nothing changed. It's just a trash email that pushed responsibility from VP level to director level. This is no good.
Note, you must be able to be close enough to get into the office in a day's notice. (Who pays? You can fly... )
Email: Design sync up day after. Me: Sweating profusely and booking flight tickets . 😅
I looked up the policy and AWS pays 😜 . But, the policy says "easily commute". Easy for whom? I used to commute coast to coast each week for 7 years.
This seems like a real pivot to WFH being a team-by-team thing now. I'm pretty sure a good number of teams were cool with WFH but couldn't because of official policy, so this might be a big deal, but I'm curious what Amazonians think. I'm also trying to figure out how being able to get into office on a day's notice will work. Link to article with the email: https://www.streetinsider.com/Corporate+News/Amazon+%28AMZN%29+CEO+Andy+Jassy+said+for+corporate+roles+working+from+homeoffice+going+to+leave+this+decision+up+to+individual+teams/19045676.html
A lot of times director's are "cool" with it because the answer has been defined for them. The second it is in their hands their true colors will shine. Good luck to all Amazonians
It’s bulls**t. Cisco did the same thing. Now we are all pressured to return to office and the company looks like the good guy and can’t be blamed because it’s up to “the team”.
Directors can't give approval if they are pipped too 🤣
Announcement article: https://www.aboutamazon.com/news/workplace/amazon-offering-teams-more-flexibility-as-we-return-to-office
Up to directors to decide the policy for their teams, but most people will still need to live close enough to go into the office with a day’s notice if required. However, the policy for permanent, remote wfh remains the same. If you want to live in a totally different location, you will need VP approval. So it will be mostly locked for high performers who have proven themselves.
with approval? pip on the way
PIPFH
Come on😂
