In the last financial year, I was in Salesforce for only 5.5 months. My manager told me that I need to be with Salesforce for atleast 6 months to get merit increase and I’m not eligible this year because of this. Did he told me the truth or just made it?
It's true for my company, not aware of Salesforce though.
I mean even if he did somehow give you it would be something like 1% given your complete lack of tenure. Not worth getting upset over
What did he tell you about the gratitude bonus?
I guess that’s directly related to my billing days as I’m in CSG
I was with Uber < 8 weeks when they approved their year end comp packages. No stock refresher (need 6+ months) but I got 4% base salary increase and prorated bonus.
Be glad you're not at box. It's one year here
Just made it. Anyone who joins before January is eligible for a merit increase.
You mean just 2 months is enough to get merit increase as Salesforce financial year ends in Feb 28?
It’d be prorated or upto your manager, but if you join before Jan there’s a budget for you too.
That’s true.
It depends on when did you join.. this year in my team someone joined in November 2021 is getting merit increase . Anyone. Joined before 1st Jan 2022 will get the hike atleast default percentage
It's manager discretion. New hires are used in budget calculations but managers are encouraged to distribute amongst lower paid folks to bring them closer to new hire comp. Usually 6 months can be the cutoff but depends on the team and if manager sees a need to do this. For example, maybe all on the team already have high comp so no need to distribute unevenly.
But it sounds like manager can do what he wants. Like favoring certain people vs punishing others. How to negotiate in the future?
that’s normal in the industry
