Annual vesting

Didn't know earlier that OCI has annual vesting of RSUs. Are there any other companies with annual vesting? If someone decides to switch jobs in middle of the year do you leave money on the table? How do you minimize the losses?

Best way to minimize loss is to not take a position with such an archaic vesting schedule in the future. A full year is way too long to make someone schedule around. I'm only a few months away from my annual Oracle vesting but will probably leave that money on the table to take a job elsewhere. Bring it up in your compensation negotiation at the next place to try and boost up your signing bonus elsewhere to try and stymie the pain somewhat.

Totally agree 😭 No idea why I joined Oracle

Annual vesting is the norm in many companies. It’s a way to lock down employees and save money if they leave (same with annual bonus, you get nothing if you leave before the following year, no prorated bonus)

What companies are you referring to here? I have not seen this in FAANGs And usually sign on and yearly bonuses are prorated. Annual vesting is exploitation of employees. I would never join any company with annual vesting going fwd

Well at Google the norm now is annual vesting, we changed it few years back. And if you leave on December 31 you get 0 as annual bonus despite having worked for 12 months Fully agree with you on your comments. Broke my heart telling a report that left in October he was getting nothing as annual bonus despite he did an amazing job for 10 months.

Annual vesting is pretty typical for RSU and same with bonuses.

I beg to differ Many companies have monthly or 3 months vesting period
