Offices are a waste of space
I tire of this RTO 180° from companies. What are these tech companies really mad about? Fully remote - able to hire talent from anywhere - reduction in office space - less commute for employees means time spent taking care of their daily, more focused on work The argument for "in-person" I can see for folks who communicate and work that way... which isn't everyone...
Just trying to force people into quitting so they don’t have to pay severance. Real POS move
So don't quit. Just cut back on your output a lot. Fuck them.
What if you moved because they went “full remote” like six months ago?
a company that is focused on making people get into cars shouldn't be remote... can't say the same for Zoom
Who tf uses Lyft to go to work?
blue collar service industry, people who live in cities/don't have cars, drunks, idk
They still have employees?
Lyft is circling the drain, every move they make is out of desperation.
Physical offices are a way for companies to make a statement. On site perks are a way to incentivize you to stay at work longer and to monitor you and indoctrinate you with the company “culture”. Take all of that away and companies are afraid of employees realizing that they are no different than any other company.
On God, this is the truth. If I lived 10 minutes from the office (I do), I'd visit now and then because they have a free lunch and snacks and drinks and coffee and good stuff But it's really for that. I enjoy wfh, On my breaks I pop the laundry into the washer or dryer, unload the dish washer, knock out a few pull-ups or squats on my rack in the garage. At EOD, I've got my chores done, wasn't sedentary, didn't sit through traffic, and I have a chill evening and still go work done. And my company is championing hybrid (on site for those that want it, remote for those that dont) and I'm stoked to recommend them. We all win.
Another fake news article. RTO is only for employees within 20 miles
I have a feeling the government made Tech companies an offer they couldn’t refuse. Probably told them to bring people back to the office in exchange for some kind of major tax break the sheeple haven’t heard about yet. This is pure conjecture, but that’s what I surmise.
Isn’t lyft going out of business soon anyways
They’ve been going out of business for years and they are still here. The reality is that it’s not particularly hard to keep the ship running and they can keep cutting costs. There will be no innovation, but that’s okay in their eyes as long as the company continues to exist.
We are still here because leadership diluted the hell of shareholders. Basically we print shares and sell them to people to stay float. We lost hundreds of millions per quarter and there is no profitablity in sight. Excluding debt, we have like 2 quarters runway. But that's not a problem because we will keep printing shares. That's how stock went from 72 to 10 dollars.
