*emphasis on the NOT brokerage because it's an important distinction, not to disparage* I've been snooping for a bit and don't see much here which is understandable. Looking to get a feel for how people here in the field are also doing, TC wise, hours wise, edu. wise, WLB wise etc. etc. Lucked out due to networking skills and beat out some people with more credentials than I (particularly postgrads, a couple of MBAs & those with prev. experience for my role) and am working in Toronto for a REIT on the development side, been about 2 yrs this fall. After talking to a few ex-Tishman, ex-MS acquaintances as well as friends that work south of the border, it's becoming more and more evident that employers up here get a sweet deal out of their employees in my discipline. Trying to explore the market in larger American cities, specifically NYC. For those curious about what this job entails, my employer purchases income producing properties (so that it can keep paying distributions to unitholders), and typically my job is to obtain entitlements for the non-core or value-add assets that allow us to intensify the use of those assets and redevelop them for existing or future tenants (commercial typically).
