I just relocated here from the PacNW last week w/ SO that took a good new job. I work in the Agile area & there are many opportunities here in SFO...I’ve talked with some recruiters but you can only read so much from a job description. I could use your insider’s perspective. It’s important to me find an org that has a healthy culture (or getting there doesn’t seem impossible) and walks the talk with their mission. I’ve contracted so much because haven’t usually wanted to convert—I’m often excited to jump in & work with a group, only to find the program only a shell & there’s no investment/support in higher ranks. I know there are haters, and I see it, but a good SM/coach can make your life a lot easier. If you need to vent though, go ahead (or DM me)...I can take it. TC: NA (temporarily, or will soon be out on the street).
Umm...I know Spotify well, but didn’t realize HQ was in SFO for some reason! That’s a solid contribution; thanks so much!
Is Spotify HQ really in the airport? That’s a dumb idea.

Thank you smart cookie. Filters! :)
I agree with your assessment. for large distributed teams, Protocols and best practices really help communicate and organize better.
Thanks, @Target ;) I’m from a huge UAL family. Airport codes are hardwired.
I’m a huge Spotify fan from way back & began adapting some of their creative practices within my group. Initially, I wanted to help Sr Mgmt get an understanding of the teams’ health in a more organic way (aka don’t just stare at a velocity chart). I ended up mining much more than that—xteam rollout = weighted list of org impediments! Which I only committed to compilng them if they committed to working on them (mwaaahaaa). Oh, and of course the team was able to speak their peace & understand more about themselves.

Principal Software Engineer TC~300K at Microsoft vs 600K at Meta. Is 300k pretty low for Principal scope?
I’m going to assume you’ve already seen it but I’ll put it here anyway. Spotify has some amazing web-series about how they work.
