Anyone use fidelity brokeragelink to buy company stock?

Tried to catch NIO and TESLA dip. But unable to place order using brokeragelink as it keeps saying "your self directed account is not eligible to buy this security". Anyone done that? What am I missing?

Respect the error message and use a non-401k account

Have you considered... asking fidelity?

It’s probably a restriction placed by your company so you don’t yolo all your retirement into GME. You could buy etf’s like QQQ VOO I believe, even TQQQ might be restricted

You can't do shorts in brokerage link account. But you can buy sqqq, if you like.

Many 401k plans do not permit trading stocks. I'm guessing it costs the company more to purchase that feature.

It only allows trading mutual funds. No fee for fidelity funds but $75 for other mutual funds
