I had a manager reach out to me about interviewing for a Kernel QA team in the CoreOS org in Cupertino. I was hoping to get some insight on this team, the work I’d be doing, and how I might prepare for the interviews. I’m a new grad(Embedded Systems) with ~3 years of internships. I think I’m more interested in SWE than SDET, but more so I want to gain experience and learn. I’m particularly interested in working around HW/SW boundary so this might be a good opportunity to learn more about kernel/OS with the possibility of switching teams in the future. Any advice is appreciated, thanks. #engineering #software #swe
I suppose Kernel QA is great for learning HW/SW dependencies, if that’s what you are going after. Surely you could jump teams within core OS later on. I suggest have an intro call with the manager and see how your interests align. Ask questions and understand what they are looking for. All the best.
