Current TC: 100k YoE: 6 (relevant exp 3) Edit -- updated offers Apple: ICT3 TC: 163k Base: Roughly 120k USD RSU: 33k USD Bonus: ~10k Toyota (Woven Planet Holdings): Lv4 TC: 147k Base: Roughly 105k USD Bonus: 27% (28.5k) Sign on: 14k Housing allowance/Rent-a-car perks: 7k No preference for company, but Toyota has full remote work policy and Apple has 3/5 days expected in-office apparently? Tell them you have another offer and the offer is 10,20,30 higher ( you decide the number )
Where is apple job at? Either way, go for Toyota remote, especially if they are at or close to FAANG TC. Seems like they are up to cool stuff, and an interesting culture. The apple Rto policy is inflexible and culture is pretty bad in a lot of places. 3 days a week with no choice of days. If you don’t do those days, you are eventually fired. I’m sure you can occasionally visit Toyota office when you want. Factor in your ability to live anywhere and cost of living, housing, no commute costs, health, happiness etc. and not just TC.
Even did rto change btw? Seems like recent change. Can we choose the office atleast? Recruiter told me the office choice which is a bit farther from my house then the main HQ. This is Siri team BTW
You can very occasionally choose office. But not always. RTO didn’t change in any meaningful way, each org can choose one day a week their team was in the office, in addition to Tuesday and Thursday. Most teams choose Wednesday. It’s still a “pilot” and will likely not change for the foreseeable future. But nothing from execs on what they are measuring or what success criteria looks like or when we will get an update on the “pilot”. Would highly recommend a flexible environment over forced or fired Rto. Leads to a rather unpleasant work environment and everyone defending why they are wfh on one of the three days. (Plumber appointment, sick kids, etc)
Always ask 10-15% more than what you think is the right number.. how is the Apple DE interview? Leetcode and sys design?

Start with finding what their offer is. Do not share your expectation until you hear their number first. Also look at levels.fyi to be realistic about your expectations for your specific area and role level.

+1 to advice above. It’s good to mention other offers after getting theirs if the others are better, tho they may ask to see them. Siri / AIML org inside of apple is known for having somewhat higher TC than the rest of Eng, but things have gotten more even as of this years annual fall review cycle.
#1 Best strategy is to play it safe. Don’t drop names or share comp, unless it’s really necessary, kinda keep it vague. #2 Yes you should ask the level so you know the expected band range. #3 Apple has mandatory RTO. Not sure how important remote is for you but if its not, go for Apple!
What was verbal Woven Planet offer? For your locale, 110k for ICT3 seems pretty decent given the exchange rate. RSU is quite low tho, I'd expect 40-80K USD, bonus seems OK. No sign on for ICT3 seems relatively normal for your locale, but maybe 5-10k USD would be a bit more than average but within the realm of possibility for Apple. However, given you have 6 YOE it seems like ICT4 might be more appropriate, and you're being down leveled.
40-80k per year? 160k to 240k over 4yr that is?
