Recently heard from someone who works at apple. Apparently they have a secret team working on apple EV cars. They are going to release some features of it next year. Does it give a tough competition to Tesla’s? TC:170k California #investments #personalfinance
Will Apple make a "complete" car including mechanicals, body, interior, etc.? Or "just" a package of software and edge hardware that could ride on any vehicle chassis, delivering the differentiating features that consumers will care about most in the next decade or so? I'm hoping for the second! I'm not sure how good any new entrant is going to be at vehicle build quality but I look forward to an age of software-defined cars, where major improvements don't have to wait until the next model year and your next vehicle purchase (which is one hat tip I'll give to Tesla). Apple could really push the car industry forward in SW-driven customer experience.
Why not the first? Apple is all about design, a trend maker sort of product such as body, interior and exterior design, simplicity and intuitive oriented style. Google, Lyft or non car manufacture companies offer the second solution. They just want to have and later monetize the data.
This has been in the news for several years now. I am skeptical
It’s gonna be terrible. Americans have no idea how to make good cars.
Apple Car team is a lot to Volkswagen, bmw peeps.
I came from Germany and formerly worked for BMW.
imo Tesla doesn’t really have a strong “quality” standard. Apple would definitely give a good thought to that. But battery is something I have less faith with for Apple 😂 I hope they don’t have a battery that “lasts upto 10 hours” and bump 1 hour every year. Also their “smart battery charging” is the dumbest out there
Why does it have to be apple that gives Tesla competition? What about Toyota, Honda, Subaru, Kia, Volkswagen, etc?
Read "The Innovator's Dilemma" for great explanation of why we shouldn't expect disruptive behavior from incumbents. It's not that those companies don't also have smart people, but they have existing obligations with customers and partners that interfere with their ability to change business fundamentals rapidly.
The disruption has already happened. Now second and third movers with embedded infrastructure have a chance to shift and beat first movers.
Can't wait for a 6 figure base price car where you void your warranty by adding windshield washer fluid yourself
“I introduce to you, the iCar”.
A secret and you disclose the secret in blind?
Nice to see people reading up on Mac Rumors and adding their own blind flavors .. but for sure when that happens it won’t have an IntelChip :(
