Three offers, not sure which to pick: Apple, ict4 (Sr), $282K TC, $182K base, rest stock and bonus Goog L4, $265k TC, $157k base, rest stock and bonus Twlio Segment, ict4 (staff), $442K TC, $252K base, rest stock, quarterly vests, refresher unclear TC: $256k, no kids, no visa, live in SF #apple #google #maps #twilio #layoffs #swe #aapl #goog
How is this a question?
Seems pretty close between Apple and Twilio
Which one are you saying to take?
Why are people voting twilio
Twilio should be the obvious choice here. The base salary alone is almost as much as the TC of the other offers

It's twilio coming off from layoffs? https://techcrunch.com/2022/09/14/twilio-lays-off-11-of-its-staff-as-it-aims-for-profitability-in-2023/
Yes, although it's better to join after layoffs than before. Amazon let go of a few teams (like robotics) so I'm not 100% safe where I'm at
OP, can I dm?
Yes
I sent dm. Thanks
how is this even a question? grab it immediately
Which one?
twilio. in my interview loops with apple, everyone there had been there 10-15 years. Personally, I’d optimize my earlier years for growth, then go to apple / google for stability (and less pay) later on. I’d also do ict5 for apple by that time, since leveling up at apple takes a long time. The apple offer is good enough, but the twilio offer is hands down better.
You’ll also get Twilio stock when it is very low. I’d go for the 56% higher pay my dudette.
Risky though right?
Eh they just had layoffs. They might again but what are the odds they hire someone to just layoff in a couple of months after they just had layoffs. I’d say a 50% raise is worth the risk. I moved companies which I would say would be risky because I lost a possible good severance package for a 35% raise.
In this market - Apple for sure if stability matters
I don't have kids or visa. How risky do you think Twilio-Segment is? My husband works as a PM in tech so we have some stability
Difficult choice! If recession kicks off, marketing budgets would be cut first. It means that twillio (including Segment) is not safe place to be. Apple seems the most stable, but the comp difference is huge. I'd choose based on team and role, not just comp. With 4YOE, it's really important where you can lear more.
Teams are both high priority areas (ai/ml at apple v.s. segment org). Which do you think I should take?
Curious about this breakdown. What is your role?
SWE. One of my friends got as high as $285K base
YOE?

Staff at 4 YOE? Do you have a PhD?
