This only means big tech is maturing.
How mature is too mature then? 0 employees, 1 GPT?
0 employees, 2 GPT, 1 cup
what’s with all the overarching statements: “is this the end of big tech” no it’s most likely cyclical and phasic. we will come back from this
I get the feeling that most people on Blind are pretty young/early in their careers so are both unfamiliar with these cycles or just paranoid that their gravy train might end before they really know what they’re doing.
well said. i’m no boomer but i’ve read up on recessions/depressions this will be soft compared to 2008
Ex apple here. These layoffs were every year in corporate side in is&t org and spg org
How does bytedance culture compare to apple? Interested in knowing whether there's a lot of micromanagement and crunch at bd also how do your hours compare?
Tiktok sucks in terms of culture
Not engineering so no
That's not a great indicator at best, and elitist at worst.
To be fair are we really going to correlate retail layoffs with big tech? Even if it is corporate retail stores. That doesn’t typically fall within the umbrella of tech when most people are referring to the tech job market. While I feel for the people affected, it seems like none of the roles people would typically classify as tech are getting laid off at Apple.
Retail cuts != Layoffs. Stop rejoicing over it
Imagine being vile enough to cheer on people losing their job; you know, the thing they depend on to fucking live?
How were they cheering it on?
Not the end but the beginning of insanity
So many folks waiting for Apple layoffs lol 😂
It’s almost sick.
I remember when people were waiting desperately for Google layoffs. And the closeted celebrations on Blind once it happened were so cringe.
Whoever that wants to believe certain companies don't do layoffs would be better off adjusting that mindset. It's healthier in the long run to realise that companies can and they will. To think that any one company doesn't and won't is just unrealistic and would disappoint you when it happens.
It's not the end
I thought they do retail cuts often.
they've been doing retail layoffs for months now
Piggybacking on this - retail layoffs have no relation to big tech industry really
