This was a few years ago but it still bothers me. Apple went through the effort to bring me in but after 5 interviews + lunch, 2 of the last 3 didn’t show up. I sat in the conference room for nearly 2 hours. Thought it was some sort of silly test after a while.
can't imagine how you staged your patients 😂😂😂
Wow! Never heard something like this from any company. Did they reschedule the interview? What did the recruiter / person who exited you after the interview say? You should have logged a formal complaint if they did not reschedule or got back to you after that.
Never really got a formal goodbye. Who would I have logged the complaint with?
The recruiter?
lol what
Guessing no one wanted to walk you out after the first interviews went really bad. Sorry dude
Which team/org was this?
My last company flew me from Australia to San Fran for interviews. I jumped into the conference room and then learned all three interviews were going to be done via remote interviewers. Mix up on my future jobs part, but ended up being one of the best roles I’ve ever had.
And, if someone else will face same situation, just grab everything you can find for drink and food in the whole campus
Sorry. At least you got a free flight and a couple of free stays at a hotel. I went to an AirBnB interview and the director, after not showing up twice, and was late to the third, literally asked me what job I’m interviewing for. No apologies, no sense of consideration of others’ time. And I started imagining what it’d be like to have to manage upward to someone like that. I later turned down the offer based on that interview.
That’s when you say you’re interviewing for their role 😉
Was at Apple for close to a decade and this is a recurring problem across a lot of teams. My take on this based on myself and my peers: Apple’s culture is extremely heavy on meetings with urgent leadership reviews (and preflights for those reviews) randomly popping up regularly w/ mandatory attendance. Sometimes the interviewer drops the ball and prioritizes the meeting over the interview and doesn’t say anything because theres no real consequence; sometimes they notify the recruiter and the recruiter drops the ball. Regardless, it adds up to a pretty poor candidate experience. Can confirm it’s highlighted internally as an issue but seems it’s still a recurring problem after all these years :(
Haha damn shows how much they cared. I guess that would bother me too. Guessing you didn’t get the gig? I wonder if they called it early and forgot to inform someone to come retrieve you.
I was thinking that too but the final guy was nice enough and made some BS excuse for why I sat there.
Wild.
