I was approached for a program manager role in austin. I told the recruiter that i am currently at senior position in technical program management at my company. She was very vague in her response and told me at apple usually based on your interview we decide the level and it is senior position although title is program manager. I see on apple careers page there do exist a title of senior PgM. So i am literally confused and i dont know if my recruiter is telling me the truth. Any suggestions/help ... will be appreciated. #apple #applecareers #programmanager #appleinterview #tech
I completely get that point but from her (recruiter) remarks it seems title doesn’t exist and based on you interview its decided but if look at their website you will find those titles... so little confusing
Why not just interview and see if you get an offer / what it is? I'm sure Apple has a place for whatever your experience level is.
It’s true. Apple doesn’t believe in titles so they are somewhat generic (scientist , developer, program manager etc) your job role (ic3-ic5, mgr1 -mgr3) is determined by your interview and what they are looking for in the position
If you do really well in your interview, you might get ict5. If you do decent, then ict4.
This is accurate. I would also add that whatever level you come in at is where you will get stuck regardless of the scores you get on yearly reviews…
It's can take 7-10 years to go from ict4 to ict5. Most people top out at ict4.
Program managers have a wide range. Even if it's not a "Sr." title it could be a great role. I just hired a non-technical PgM in Arizona for $200k. They were "Sr." In title at Uber so technically a downgrade for people who care about titles? Bigger global role, 50% comp increase, definitely a promotion career wise.
Also just to share, even if the posting online says a specific level, they have flexibility to level it up/down based on your interviews.

Anyone have a TC estimate for an IC5 TPM at Apple in Austin. Want to benchmark a recent offer I have for Amazon L6 320k TC
Curious apple has already interviewed me for three rounds + initial screening which i feel really went well now there radio silence from there end, i sent recruiter an email yesterday asking her if there was any feedback .... i haven’t heard from them yet. how many rounds typically apple has before making a decision? Also can i assume that silence due to another fit candidate ....
Any updates? Can you share any tips on the interviews you had?

Recruiter is right, most of the companies determine level based on how you perform during the interview. I say go for it, you can always decline the offer if it’s low!
