That's gunning genius!👓👓🔌💡
all@apple.com. Email distribution list that goes to all employees to share announcements, etc...
how many employees did they have?? Amazon has more employees than the population of Iceland, we could never do it except for critical problems like responding to NY Times article etc
They mean like all-hands emails. So like something where the apple CEO will say don't tell anyone but we're going to launch the iPad 5miniSpro. Then someone leaks that. But there were 10 ever so slightly different worded versions of that announcement so based on media quotes they can narrow down org leaks.
eh, narrows it down to what, 5k ppl? 8k?
Ten versions doesn't sound like enough. Unless they can autogenerated a unique version for every employee by playing with grammer/spacing as well
Why?

Who the hell leaks email details? You have to be an idiot
employees can sell the information to tech media for $$$
Duh, people leak information. Who ever leaks exact text or the original emails?
Tyrion used this strategy in game of throne
We should do something like this too.
No need. We ARE game of thrones
Elon Musk does this all the time. Apple probably just barely caught on... they are a bit slow ;)
just like apple products?
Yes
all you need is a few target pixels in an embedded picture and the email has a unique signature. With text it must be much harder to do, I can only see this realistically doable at scale with spacing differences
But wouldn't that tactic really only be effective if someone forwarded the entire email? In my case I'd to a copy paste to Atom and reformat and change phrasing a bit before sending along.
Someone who decides to immediately leak something their company doesn't want shared probably isn't thinking that far ahead 90% of the time.
Microsoft did this. only an idiot would let the press quote directly or show a picture of a sensitive email. I have never leaked anything but I was tempted when Microsoft sent email about putting office supplies on only the first floor of every building to save money.
I'm pretty sure a Facebook employee once tried to be clever by taking a picture of something on his computer instead of taking a screenshot, and it ended up being published on the internet with his first name and profile pic visible in the corner of the Facebook window…
Now we know who you are gd3JA1
Employees should be treated as adults, not spies. Netflix values freedom and responsibility. If you leak something confidential, no big deal to the company, but you may end up losing the job, or worse. Apple management should grow some balls and start trusting their employees to make the right decision.
How can you lose your job if they don't know who you are? The whole point of the system is to identify the leaker.
I totally agree, but I think the issue is that despite being adults they have some employees who are spies!

I don't think apple is the only one. Google claims they do too.
