EU tell Apple, do not be a monopoly. Allow competition in Appstore and IAP payment gateways. Apple says pay us just about the same commission even if you sell us through competition. https://techcrunch.com/2024/01/30/reading-the-fine-print-of-apples-dma-rules-25-things-app-developers-need-to-know/
But in-app purchases no longer need to go through App Store - they are unlikely to be able to collect those from developers. That monopoly is eroding.
Apple is asking for commissions even if it does not go from them.
Good luck clawing $ back from developers, especially trust their books.
Apple are going to get fucked up by the EU for not complying. Bring on the 10% global revenue fine.
I am wondering what loophole their lawyers have seen. This is not a random low level manager decision.
They're trying their luck/setting up a position to negotiate from.
😎
Wait till EU fines Apple
I wish they would wipe out their revenue so that no one ever dares to take consumers on a ride.
It really is risky on Apple's part. Penalty for violating the DMA is 10% global revenue, and I don't see how what they've done can be considered compliant. It's the definition of malicious compliance
