The thing about advertising is the total ad spend doesn’t “expand” it’s the same % of GDP. What that means is to grow ad revenue, you have to steal share from someone. Google and Meta massacred TV and print etc. So for Amazon and Apple revenue to increase at that pace, Google and Meta must be giving up share
If Apple comes after Google’s ad revenue, you best believe we will pour money into Pixel HW like no tomorrow
No one buys pixel. Have used pixel 1 through 5. Havent tried 7. Go to any apple store. All the teens want iPhone. They dont give an F what android has to offer. They want blue bubble.
It’s about growth, not current market share. Apple has matured, everyone that has the money and wants it is already getting an iPhone. Pixel has been growing >200% YoY https://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2022/08/google-pixel-sees-huge-sales-growth-has-2-of-north-american-market/
Pixel is a low premium device with very low share. Currently Apple allows google to be default search engine on Safari but do you think they haven’t built their own search engine? Moreover, that’s just mobile search. There is also desktop search. If you want to buy sneakers say, do you search for them in the google search bar or the Amazon search bar?
What the hell is an Amazon search bar.
Do you use Amazon? If you are on the Amazon page or the app, there is a bar in the top which says “search amazon” that’s a search bar for all amazon merchandise. When you type say “shoes” you get listing of sales and ads. The click through rate for those is higher than google search bar and there is a lot of bypassing of google search for shopping if I already know I want it from amazon/amazon affiliates
Advertising has become the new hope for every company. When I was at Amazon they wouldn't shut up about how that's going to be the new rock to stand on. Now Netflix is saying this and so is Apple. All I know is I'm still using AdBlock
AdBlock had some privacy issues recently. Try uBlock Origins
.. and you AdBlock works inside Apple’s Apps? Like App store or Apple Fitness? 🤦♂️
