Asking for a friend: "Analyst in healthcare company with expertise in data visualization (tableau, powerBI) with Excel and less emphasis on SQL/SAS(basic knowledge). Finding fewer roles out there matching my experience. I'm just looking at LinkedIn and companies' career pages and reaching out to contacts for referrals so far. Any other avenues to explore for finding better roles? Not much success in getting call backs for roles with SQL/SAS as preferred skill. YOE: 1.5yrs Currently on OPT. Need H1 sponsorship. No particular preference on location/industry. " #dataanalyst #referral #businessanalyst #healthcare #analyst #tableau
Tableau is common across older companies. SAS is real legacy. Looker and maybe Mode is more popular in newer ones. Both require knowledge of SQL. Your friend might be okay for the older legacy companies that hire data analysts. But without SQL and/or Python (R in lieu of python is ok), I don’t think he or she is fit to be looking for a DA role in a tech firm. The bar is higher if you lack a math degree.

Clearly needs to up the game and add SQL in his toolkit. Doubt anybody would call your friend a data analyst without knowing SQL
Any good resources for learning advanced SQL that you can recommend?
Udemy or Udacity is good
