They pay truckloads and do well during market volatility. With Meta and Amazon stock taking a dive would this make HFT’s the main tier 1 companies at the moment? Startups seem too risky in terms of layoffs and “stable” companies like Google and Apple just don’t pay as much. Citadel, Jane Street, Hudson River Trading, and similar paying ones come to mind. Tc 100k -> 250k
But I have heard they only hire/like to hire people from a Stanford, CMU, Berkley, GaTech and MIT. Does anyone know how to get interview calls if one is not from these big Universities?
For new grads, you’re probably SOL if you didn’t go to a big name school (the application has a drop down list of schools you can chose from, and I assume if you select other they ignore your application lol). Definitely a lot of people without big name degree gets hired for experienced roles at Cit Sec at least though
I got newgrad interviews @ JS, HRT and I go to a shit school
Uhh… guess which companies can lose everything in an instant during a recession Citadel almost went out of business in 2008 lol
But hey, that could never happen a second time!
History repeats. We are just not sure who’s next.
Joining a public company after their stock has crashed is way better than joining them when their stock is at an all-time high. Seriously contemplating leaving finance for a beaten-down tech company to maximize comp.
^^^^ this
Jane Street timing the market. Great to hear it’s not just wall street bets talking like this lol.
They're not the only Tier 1 but the current conditions do elevate their status. Cash is king!

Opinion: What do you see in this photo?
I wish they paid truckloads
They don’t? Citadel/JS/etc?
Woops, updated my post. I understand not all firms pay truckloads but some like Citadel still pay like $400k for new grads as far as I understand it.
