China CYBERATTACK on UK ? WTF
I’ve an MS in Aerospace from a relatively prestigious European university, I moved to the US and I feel like I’m at a serious disadvantage due to my foreign degree. I have 2yrs of experience and typically people from my school will get jobs at top companies in Europe. Is this disadvantage real? Should I consider getting a US degree? TC ~85K #tech #aerospace
Do not get more degrees.
If you’re looking for aerospace roles, wouldn’t the lack of US citizenship be a disadvantage?
Great point.
applying to all kinds of jobs, and aerospace only to those that don’t require clearance
Not quite the same, but I have a friend with a PhD in Hydraulics from a European university who now has a really good job. Admittedly, he put in a ton of years (almost a decade) at one employer to get promoted then moved on. And while they may be the exception more than the norm, I know a good number of people in tech without college degrees who are working at top companies. You can make it on your degree and your own hard work, I think. Obviously, it depends quite a bit on what you want to do.
I've never heard of any prestigious University outside of the US (I'm a born and raised cornfed American). Here Ivy Leagues, UC Berkeley, Stanford, NYU, and a few others have the most clout.
stanford btw
Good catch Uber, I updated my post.
Depends if you have a good employer in Europe to back up your degree? If you worked at Rolls Royce, Airbus, or some other aero plane or military developer, and wanted to join the American peers, can’t imagine it being too hard
I have German masters degree and got plenty of interviews as new grad
once you have some experience in the US it won’t matter much
