Are enterprise software companies like MS, Salesforce, ServiceNow, Atlassian, SAP, Oracle etc are safer from layoffs standpoint? Usually SaaS/PaaS businesses have multi-year contracts and they are guaranteed some level of revenue to survive the downtime?
There is a long term impact (in terms of smaller clients dropping off) but it may not have a considerable effect financially. Also in cases where billing is usage based, revenue might decrease as clients reduce/stop using non-essential functionalities.
