Are you expected to do better in FB interviews because your competition has memorized the problems from LC?

Wondering if all the people memorizing leetcode problems mean you have to do them super fast just to stand a chance.

Microsoft k5a78gy Aug 17, 2021

Yes I guess ?

Google d-ll-b Aug 17, 2021

I guess so yeah. For that reason I’ve decided to ignore FB recruiters asking me to interview, cuz I don’t see any reason to memorize hundreds of LC solutions just to be able to interview

Microsoft POPROCK Aug 17, 2021

Yes, that’s why they ask you two leetcode medium/hard in 45 minutes. Even extremely smart people seeing a problem the first time may not be able to solve both in that time constraint. Don’t forget that there are actually only 30 mins for the technical part.. kids on 1point3acres aim for 500 15 which is 500 mediums in 15 minutes each.

Wtf…

Google booleann Aug 17, 2021

wtf didn't know about these 1point3acres kids..Is this becoming the next olympics

Facebook Se/\ttle Aug 17, 2021

They’re just there to teach you solutions to common problems.

Facebook nYtT88 Aug 17, 2021

And yet you’d be shocked how many people do poorly in interviews.

Fb was the only phone screen that I failed in my entire life recently, when I answered both questions in optimal time complexity and proper explanation in 30 minutes . I have done around 17 phone screens for full time so far. Can solving questions too fast be a reason of failure too?

Facebook nYtT88 Aug 17, 2021

I would be shocked if someone got the right answers in a short amount of time and was declined. The flags id see that would be problematic would be communication and ability to explain yourself, combined with a potential inability to take hints.

Facebook ltXo64 Aug 17, 2021

If I passed on the fb interview then it means it's not hard at all and you will be fine

In theory no, in practice yes
