This is definitely going to hurt Alphabet in the long term. Area 120, X, and the other incubators are the only interesting parts of Google left. The remaining is just corporate zombie

Actually it’s not entirely true. Do not know enough about Area 120, but X projects have been a shit show for many years.

They're called moonshots for a reason. Tech is so boring nowadays. If Google doesn't innovate, it will become the next IBM. X projects are supposed to turn into money printers.
