Hi all! Any recommendations for transitioning from consulting to product marketing? I have ~2.5 years experience in strategy consulting (experience with data analytics, comms, user-centered design) and have relevant college education/recent remote coursework, but no direct product marketing experience. I’m based on the east coast and have looked into the Google APMM program but am not able to relocate.

Brother beaten severely as a kid. Doesn’t speak to dad at all now.
I did the exact same thing (consulting to PMM). What helped me was making sure I understand my niche for example analytics, understand the customer pain points, and most importantly how the product solves those pain points. You could be a good PMM knowing basic outbound marketing stuff, but if you know your space, product and customers as much as your PM counterpart, you’ll be a irreplaceable business steward.
