Why doesn't OpenAI offshore and reduce expense by 80%
When did you stop worrying about stacking up more and more money, and start enjoying it and focusing on spending time with family, friends, and hobbies? Assuming you have enough to survive comfortably (not talking about having 50k a year for vacation 😂) and your hobbies/things you enjoy doing don't include work.
I chase money and have career aspirations BECAUSE of my hobbies.
30 yo single income household 300k TC 400k NW My current income is more than enough for me to enjoy life. Currently saving >50% of my income. I have stopped chasing after TC and promotions. I put in 8 hours at work and enjoy the rest of the time with my family and hobbies.
What hobbies?
Tennis, billiards, bowling, piano. I’m in sports leagues that take up entire evenings 2-3 times a week.
At one point in your life, 24 hrs a day becomes more and more scarce, as you have other priorities in life (for some it's family, for some it's their hobbies, etc) and you realize the ROI in happiness for work is lower than other stuff. Once you are comfortable and can afford some luxuries here and there, a high TC becomes just a number, so you no longer want to invest as much in work as when you were grinding in earlier years. It's not to say people get lazy, they just find other priorities that are more important. This sounds like a cliche but when you leave the world, nobody will remember you by the hours you put in work and your employer won't hesitate to replace you, but your friends and family will miss you and remember you by the quality you spent together.
1) when I told my skip that we should explore alternative avenues for org workflow they suggested. I was given a poor performance review for not “communicating with tact”. 2) asked a coworker how her girlfriend was doing. Reported to HR for not saying “partner”.
Your problem is you work at Google. Never going to get any non triggered interactions there as theyare infested with woke gen Z hard left snowflakes
Why should I compare myself to these people and why use the money as the basis for comparison? What’s the use of money if I don’t have time to spend it? If I need 200k for everything I need to be happy, what’s the point of earning more than that?
I'm 32. My TC is ~350k and net worth is slightly over 1.2m. I just decided not to buy a house. Instead, I recently started donating thousands every month. I found the true meaning of my life. I'm happy helping those who need my financial support.
