anyone live in Atlanta and care to comment on the lifestyle, city life, safety, culture, etc. I'm a remote worker but also would like to know there's a healthy market for Tech if I move on
Healthy market for tech... other things depend on what you are looking for etc
I work in Atlanta, personally if you want to grow your career after a certain point move to California or Seattle. Nice to start off but not great when it comes to meetups or just the general tech vibe
I worked in the Bay Area first and then moved to Atlanta.. tech market is slower and more established companies
But it's still a healthy market with plenty of opportunities... cost of living is much less when compared with Bay Area
lots of tech. biggest upside is the CoL is much more manageable.
btw whats the market compensation for software engineer of l5 or somebody with 10+ years of experience?
Likely $100-110k + bonus + stock. If you're full stack there is a huge need for talent in Atlanta right now. A bit more at specific companies/teams. With the demand, salaries are going up relatively quickly as companies fight for top talent
Alpharetta (north Atlanta) is tech hot.
There are multiple concentrated areas of tech (down town / mid-town, Buckhead, Sandy springs/Dunwoody, Alpharetta, north Cobb). Yes more affordable than Cali or NY. Traffic is some of the worst. if you can move close to work, then life is good. We have some HQ here, and plenty of back / satellite offices.
This GA Tech link has a lot of useful information: https://bootcamp.pe.gatech.edu/wp-content/uploads/sites/95/2019/10/GT_Infographic_v2-1.pdf
Tech scene is strong. You should check out the city-data forums for the other stuff. Plenty of existing threads
thanks, I'm new 🤗
